MEET JUDY
I find great satisfaction creating beautiful things.
Sewing is my passion. It began at age nine when I made my first apron. From the beginning, I’ve loved transforming fabrics, trims and threads into wearable garments, accessories and furnishings.
Sewing, and the study of textiles, became the focus of 3 college degrees and my professional career with University of Maryland Extension. For 31 years, I taught the selection, use, care and construction of clothing and home furnishings to youth and adults in a non-formal education setting throughout Maryland.
Today, in my retirement, my focus is primarily with wool fabrics. I push the envelope, doing all those things that I once cautioned against - washing in hot water with agitation and soap, drying in a hot dryer - creating new fabrics with a myriad of textures. Still blending colors, textures, fibers, trims and machine stitches for the unique, one-of-a-kind jacket, vest, hat, mittens… Still teaching about the selection, use and care of textiles…
